Prince Harry

Prince Harry

Britain's Prince Harry will visit London's Trafalgar Square next week.

The 29-year-old royal will stop off at the tourist attraction next Thursday (14.11.13) to attend a pre-departure event before he sets off on his trek to the South Pole with Walking With The Wounded.

The Prince will be accompanied by members of the three participating teams and will give a short speech before picking up last-minute supplies for the race.

The British team will go head-to-head against a team from the US - including Alexander Skarsgard - in a 208-mile trek from the 87 degrees latitude line to the South Pole.

It is thought the race will take 21 days and each day the teams will endure 12 hours of skiing, with just 10-minute rest breaks every two hours.

During the expedition, the teams will have to pull sledges weighing 70kg in bitterly cold temperatures as low as minus 45C.

In preparation for the race, Harry and his team recently spent 24 hours sleeping in a freezing cold chamber at a temperature of minus 35C, where they practised putting up tents and hiking through blizzard winds, in a bid to make sure they're mentally ready for the challenge ahead.

Harry and his team hope to raise £2 million for charity through their trek.
