Prince Harry on his South Pole trek

Britain's Prince Harry is missing his friends and family while competing on the Walking with the Wounded trek.

The flame-haired royal is currently on a 208-mile trek to the South Pole as part of Team UK, aka Team Glenfiddich, and his fellow teammate Ibrar Ali has revealed the prince, as well as the other members, are all thinking about their loved ones back in England a lot.

In a blog post on the Walking with the Wounded website, he wrote: "I'm sure I speak for all our Team Glenfiddich team mates when I say we are missing all our families and friends in England."

Despite missing their friends and family, Team UK were "at least a couple of kilometers" ahead of their Australia and Canada team rivals, Team Soldier On - who feature 'The Wire' actor Dominic West - and the US team, Team Noom, who have Hollywood star Alexander Skarsgard, at the start of day three today (03.12.13).

Ibrar explained: "We are about to start day three of the Virgin Money South Pole Allied Challenge, and all is going relatively well.

"Team Glenfiddich are in the lead at least of a couple of kilometres I think, with the US Team just behind us and I think Team Soldier On close by to Team Noom."

However, Ibrar admitted all of the teams are finding the race physically tough.

He added: "It's been a hard couple of days, since the race started on Sunday, we're obviously very tired, and haven't encountered this kind of physical exhaustion anywhere else before.

"The training has been good over the past year, but is not quite the same as pulling pulks weighing 80 to 90 kg over some quite tough terrains and quite extreme conditions."
