Prince Harry leaving London for the South Pole
Britain's Prince Harry and his Walking With The Wounded teammates are still stuck in South Africa.
The 29-year-old royal was due to leave for the South Pole on Tuesday (19.11.13), but a polar storm has kept the prince grounded in Cape Town for two days in a row as he waits for the weather to clear alongside his fellow UK war veterans competing in the South Pole Allied Challenge 2013.
Alexandra Hunter-Dunn, a spokeswoman for Walking With The Wounded charity, told CNN: "At the moment, they're just waiting. They're managing to do a bit of training, hiking up Table Mountain and around Cape Town."
Harry joins veterans wounded in combat on UK Team Glenfiddich, while 'True Blood' star Alexander Skarsgard is an honorary member of the US team, and 'The Wire actor Dominic West joins the Commonwealth nations of Canada and Australia.
The seven-person teams, which also include a guide and mentor, will race across the Antarctic in a gruelling 208-mile trek, facing temperatures up to -35 degrees Celsius, in order to raise money for the charity, which funds the re-training and re-education of wounded servicemen and women.
Once they arrive at Antarctica's Novo Station, they will have to acclimatize for three days before setting off on the expedition, which is expected to take 16 days.
The delay means there is a chance Harry and his fellow competitors might not be home in time for Christmas.
