Prince William and Duchess Catherine

Prince William and Duchess Catherine

Canada's CN Tower will be lit up in blue or pink depending on the sex of Prince William and Duchess Catherine's baby.

Residents in Toronto will only have to look up into the sky if they want to find out whether the couple are proud parents of a boy or girl when the little one arrives as the landmark will be coloured in solid pink or blue on the evening the birth is announced.

The tower often uses its special light shows to symbolically mark big events, such as Father's Day when it changes to a dark and light blue colour.

Catherine - who was known as Kate Middleton prior to her marriage to William - is due to give birth on July 13.

Despite the duchess' due date being more than a week away, a frenzy of photographers have already gathered outside St. Mary's Hospital in London, where the royal couple have booked a birthing suite at the Lindo Wing, the same area where the Duke of Cambridge was born.

What's more, royal enthusiasts hoping for a great view of proceedings might like to note renowned royalist Margaret Tyler has joined forces with social accommodation website Wimdu.co.uk to create the Royalist Rooms - a majestically decorated property less than 200 yards away from St. Mary's Hospital.

The abode, which is available to rent, has been kitted out with a state-of-the-art long-distance telescope and professional binoculars to check out the action as well as a TV screen ensuring royal fans won't miss a thing when Catherine is bringing home the baby.
