The new Amazon Lookout for Vision feature - which combines Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Computer Vision (CV) - is designed for companies to find cracks, dents, incorrect colour and other defects through images of products.

Swami Sivasubramanian - Vice President of Amazon Machine Learning for AWS - said: "We’re excited to deliver Amazon Lookout for Vision to customers of all sizes and across all industries to help them quickly and cost effectively detect defects at scale to save time and money while maintaining the quality their consumers rely on."

Swedish food producer Dafgards has already tested the tool to make sure there's enough cheese and the correct topping on its frozen pizzas.

Meanwhile, AWS has suggested the tool can be trained with as little as 30 basline images, and it is offered as a cloud service to make it easy to adapt into quality control workflow.

Furthermore, AWS also notes that the Amazon Lookout for Vision can account for camera angle, pose and lighting.
