Twitter's Donald Trump ban is permanent - even if he runs for office again.
The social network's Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal has clarified the company's policies on permanent user bans, and confirmed the former US President won't be allowed back onto the platform in the future.
He told CNBC's 'Squawk Box': "The way our policies work, when you're removed from the platform, you're removed from the platform, whether you're a commentator, you're a CFO or you are a former or current public official.
"Our policies are designed to make sure that people are not inciting violence, and if anybody does that we have to remove them from the service and our policies don't allow people to come back."
Twitter banned Trump on January 8, and warned that the then-president's posts risked inciting violence after his angry supporters stormed the Capitol building in Washington, DC.
The site's co-founder Jack Dorsey previously addressed the decision to permanently suspend Trump from the service.
In a lengthy thread, he wrote: "I do not celebrate or feel pride in our having to ban @realDonaldTrump from Twitter, or how we got here.
"After a clear warning we’d take this action, we made a decision with the best information we had based on threats to physical safety both on and off Twitter. Was this correct?
"I believe this was the right decision for Twitter. We faced an extraordinary and untenable circumstance, forcing us to focus all of our actions on public safety.
"Offline harm as a result of online speech is demonstrably real, and what drives our policy and enforcement above all."
