Do you?

Do you?

www.bonvoyage.co.uk have found; despite that when people are at home you can’t keep them off Facebook and Twitter, during work breaks and on the couch- on holiday most prefer a social media detox! We find out why!

I want to stay relaxed and cut out any stress/anxieties from the outside world – Knowing about things from social media sites can bring you down. A post about a neglected animal, snippets of bad news, people moaning about work that you have to return to at some point- ignorance is bliss on holiday!

I am too tempted to check my social media pages constantly and not fully enjoy my holiday when connected to the internet – The addiction that we have all developed to social media, can become overbearing and can stop you noticing things on holiday because your head is down and focused on your phone or laptop. Look up and take in the sunshine, the views, the beaches, the attractions- you can’t do this again when you are back at home- but you can look at your phone!

The cost of using the internet whilst on a cruise- either through a computer, tablet or phone, is far too expensive for me to justify the spend  - The charges are astronomical and do you really need to know how many times Jenny’s baby threw up last night? Or that Ben is feeling a bit ‘meh’ today? And it costs you for the privilege of gaining this useless information- you don’t care normally- so why would you on holiday?

My family/loved ones are not as engaged in our trip and experiences if they are online whilst on board our ship –Why not wait till you get home to show pictures and tell your stories? If you post it all before you get home there is literally nothing to talk about without the phrase- ‘yeah you said that on Facebook’ or ‘I know you already told us that on Twitter’. Talking about voluntarily stealing your thunder!

I am too tempted to check my work emails and not fully enjoy my holiday with internet access – As soon as you get home the joy of having emails on your phone means that even if you don’t want to, you have a sneaky look at what awaits you the next day. If you deny yourself of this then you don’t have to worry about them till you return! What can you do about it thousands of miles away? Nothing that’s what!
