Spa day

Hilton Honors revealed that many married women are now choosing to have a girlie break instead of going away with their partners and families. It was found that 6 out of 10 women have gone away with friends instead of their loved ones, while they partners take care of things at home. One of the main reasons for this was the difficulty of getting the same time off from work.

Hilton Honors coined the term Me-ni- breaks, where the one goes away without the other. Woman’s top choices for getting away comprised of a shopping trip and a spa break or a short haul beach trip. Hilton Worldwide is providing 40% off room rates for those wanting to take part in a Me-ni- break right through till December 30th.

Carmelina Tangi, senior director of customer marketing at Hilton Worldwide, said,

“Variety is the spice of life and trying new experiences, exploring cultures or indulging a hobby are all ways to unwind on holiday.  Different trips suit different purposes, so whether you’re looking for the luxury escape of a lifetime, family fun on a beach break, fine dining, culture, spas or shopping, it makes sense that we look to share these experiences with different people in our lives.”

The study looked at 2,000 Brits all of whom were in a long term relationship and found that 61% had been on and enjoyed a holiday without their children or partners at some point, with one in ten admitting to regularly going way with people other than their families.

Of women who holiday without their partner:

·         59 per cent enjoy a girls’ holiday with friends

·         One in four go away with their parents

·         One in five will take their children away

·         One in 10 like to go away alone

It is not only the women who are enjoying a bit of a break from domestic life, as many men also chose to get away, however their main motivation was for a sports oriented break.

Unfortunately, many times their trip came with the price of missing their wedding anniversary.

The research found that the five most popular countries and cities visited by people on a break without their partner are:

  1. Spain

1. London

  1. France

2. Barcelona
