Be safe on your summer holiday

Be safe on your summer holiday

Jetting away on holiday can be a fun and exciting experience; we’re in a new country, meeting new people and we have the freedom that we may necessary not have back at home. However, it is important to be cautious and think safely when we are away.

01 – Don’t go off with strangers without telling people where you are going first

So you’ve met some really cool people and they want you to go back to their hotel with them to hang out some more. Sounds good! But wait, just remember you’re on holiday and people aren’t always as they first seem. If you do plan to go off with people you have only just met, inform friends where you are going and what time you are expected back. It’s always best to be safe!

02 – Use protection

Holidays are the place to have one night stands and summer flings but it is also common to catch STI’s on holiday if you’re not careful. Always carry a few condoms in your clutch so as not to be caught by surprise. Remember, even if you are using another form of contraception, condoms are the only contraception that will prevent from catching an STI. The only thing you want to be catching on your holding is a tan!

03 – Watch your drink

You will probably be consuming a lot of alcohol when you are on holiday but it is important not to leave your drink abandoned. If you leave a drink on its own, drugs may be slipped in to it and you could be left vulnerable and in danger. Be safe and finish your drink before you head to the toilet!

04 – Don’t go off alone at night

Night can be a scary thing, especially when you’re in a country you may not be very familiar with. You don’t want to be getting lost and finding yourself in an abandoned street. Never travel alone at night and avoid quiet streets.

05 – Get to know your surroundings

When you arrive at your hotel, take some time out from lazing around the pool to go out and get to know the place you are in. This will help you know your whereabouts better when it gets dark and will stop you getting lost.
