With the premiere of the new series of Doctor Who just around the corner, we've decided to take a look at Jenna Coleman and see just what we could find out about her that we didn't know already!

1) Jenna's voice was used in the 2011 fantasy action video game Xenoblade Chronicles, where she played the character Melia.

2) She had the chance to go to university but instead was given the Emmerdale role of Jasmine Thomas in 2005, where she became one-half of soap land's first relatively normal lesbian couple.

3) A "surreal" experience for the actress was when she joined Waterloo Road as Lindsay James - a school kid she played at the age of 23.

4) Mainly a television actress, you could have seen her face in Captain America: The First Avenger alongside such greats as Tommy Lee Jones. This was her big screen debut.

5) Jenna is dedicated to her roles, relocating to America for US drama Boston Legal. Unfortunately the series was cancelled, which led to Jenna returning back to the UK.

6) Though she dated fellow Emmerdale star Karl Davies back in 2006 to 2009, she's now with ex-Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden, and has been since 2011.

7) Readers of Doctor Who magazine have definitely taken her to their hearts, voting her Best Female Guest Star for Season 7A, in an episode titled Asylum of the Daleks.

8) She has many high hopes, and has been quoted as stating she'd "love to be a Bond girl".

9) It wasn't long before Jenna knew acting was what she wanted to do, and she notes she was just 10 years old when she realised this is the career path she wanted to go down.

10) Though she feels at home in groups of people she describes herself as "quite a nervous person" when in one-to-one situations.

Doctor Who returns to BBC One on August 23.
