Kristen Johnston has replaced Paula Abdul on 'Ugly Betty'.
The former '3rd Rock From the Sun' star will take on the role which was initially pencilled in for the ex-'American Idol' judge on the US TV show after Abdul's contract negotiations "fell through".
Abdul was being lined up to play recurring character Helen, Mode's "crazy" new office temp.
But she was dropped in the favour of Kristen, reportedly due to her long list of demands, which is said to have included a private jet.
Kristen is thrilled with her new role, saying: "I've always considered myself a poor man's Paula Abdul."
Describing her part, Kristen told US Weekly magazine: "Helen is Becki Newton's character Amanda in 10 years. She's still trying to get into the right clubs, wearing tight dresses... tragic.
"I think Helen sees herself as Samantha from Sex and the City. Except, of course, she's a temp."
Kristen will first appear on the programme's two-hour season premiere on October 9.
