Continuing on Five this week is the magazine show that offers an inside look at Major League Soccer. Coinciding with David Beckham’s move to LA Galaxy, Soccer USA provides a comprehensive guide to football in North America, with game highlights, news, interviews and goals from the up-and-coming American league. Each edition of Soccer USA is based at a MLS match and features guests, special reports and films bringing to life all the characters and stories of the US game. The programme also includes ‘David Beckham’s Blog’ an exclusive insight into the Beckham family’s new life in the States. Tim Lovejoy hosts the show, while Natalie Pinkham reports from the US. Soccer USA’s other weekly features include interviews with other football stars who have made the switch to the American league; a look at famous supporters of MLS teams, such as Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg; ‘WAGs USA’, focusing on some of the most glamorous footballers’ wives in MLS; and a tongue-in-cheek guide to American footballing terms. In the fifth instalment of the series, David Beckham continues to provide all his latest news from the US as he settles into his new career in LA. This week’s featured game will be LA Galaxy’s inter conference clash with the New York Red Bulls, who are currently third in the eastern standings. One of the inaugural teams in MLS, New York Red Bull were known as the MetroStars until Red Bull’s takeover in 2006. The club play out of the enormous Giants Stadium in New Jersey, also home to the NFL teams the New York Giants and the New York Jets. Lining up in the squad against David Beckham will be at least one familiar face from the English Premiership: former Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo Ángel, who completed his move to New York Red Bull in May. Ángel has scored a staggering nine goals in his first 12 games, and will be looking to extend his excellent opening run against LA Galaxy. The new-look Beckham
