ANTM: British Invasion
Long-time ANTM co-stars Nigel Barker, Jay Alexander and Jay Manuel were all fired in April. All three have been involved with the show since its beginning in 2003.
CW Network is currently airing ANTM’s 18th season. The cycle is called “British Invasion” and features former contestants from Britain’s Next Top Model.
Banks added: “The decision was made simply because the show needs a boost. It was a hard decision because they are my friends, my guys!”
Nigel Barker said the decision didn’t come as a shock. “I’m surprised it didn’t happen earlier. No hard feelings. It’s not a Tyra thing, it’s the network’s thing. The contract with the show was so exclusive that it held me from getting involved in other projects. I’m very much looking forward to creating my own show that focuses on some of my passions like photography.”
It has been revealed that Banks is looking to hire more “modern and contemporary” judges from the fashion world, like popular bloggers or other social media insiders. Who do they have in mind - Bryan Boy, Tavi Gevinson, Anna Dello Russo?
America’s Next Top Model Cycle 19 will air in Autumn 2012 and will be a “College-Edition”. Banks, a recent graduate of Harvard Business School has "decided to show that it's possible to have beauty and brains."
