The 45-year-old TV star was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2021 and underwent treatment for several months before being given the all-clear but admitted that even though she may have felt "alone", the diagnosis affected her family.

Following her battle, Adele became the fastest woman to run the London Marathon with a stoma bag, finishing the race in 3:30:22 and broke a Guinness World Record in doing so but admitted she couldn't have done it without the support of her long-term partner Kate.

Speaking on ITV's 'Lorraine', she told stand-in host Christine Lampard: "Anybody who has been through cancer, it's not you alone. It feels very lonely but it affects your family as well.

"Without Kate, I wouldn't have been able to run that marathon. It still seems so strange to me that I was able to run a marathon!"

The former 'Dancing on Ice' contestant - who now lives with a stoma bag which she has named Audrey - has now put her story down on paper in her new memoir 'Personal Best' and is hoping that the tome is helpful to anyone who is going through anything difficult in life.

She said: "This is the book that I hoped I would have been able to read when I first got diagnosed. I was obviously very overwhelmed.

"One of the things I did when I first heard the news was just go onto the Internet and see so many accounts from people on Instagram and forums just sharing their story no matter what they were going through, even if their cancer was terminal. That helped me so much and it did give me hope. I thought 'If I make it through this, I want to make sure that I write it all down and get my head together, do a book.' And there it is. I'm just so proud of it."

"I think when I look back through my life, there was lots of times that I've been through things but they weren't necessarily cancer so I put a lot of those instances in because I understand that not everyone is going through something cancer, but it feels just the same. It could be like losing your home or splitting up with a partner or just general disappointment of life. I just hope it can help anybody who might want to pick it up and read it."
