The comedian admits his favourite dress is still the orange outfit with big shoulder pads he wore to Jonathan Ross' annual Halloween party in 2017, when he was impersonating the 'Diva Forever' star, and admits he finds Gemma "very empowering".

Quizzed on whether he likes wearing gowns, he said: "Loads of dresses. I find it quite liberating.

"My favourite dress, and probably infamous, is my Gemma Collins one I wore for Halloween.

"The GC brings it out of me, she brings out The AC. I find her very empowering."

Alan was expecting to look like a "stunning woman" every time he dons a dress, but insists he looks "ugly" instead.

He is quoted by The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column as saying: "I always thought, because I'm not the best looking man, I thought, 'When I put on a dress I bet I'll be this stunning woman.'

"No, you're an ugly woman as well."

In 2018, the 'Chatty Man' host admitted he role plays as Gemma to spice up his sex life with his husband Paul Drayton.

He said: "David Beckham says marriage is hard work and he's right. Me and my husband Paul have been together 10 years - in gay years that's around 200 and almost unheard of.

"Posh and Becks have been together almost double that time - imagine how bored of each other me and Paul will be by then?

"But we add a bit of spice and freshen things up with role play. Obviously I dress as Gemma Collins in bed. And we often like to pretend to be Elton John and David Furnish - the Poundland version."
