The Sky Max crime drama - in which Amanda played forensic scientist Dot alongside Babou Ceesay's pathologist alter ego Professor Wolfe Kinteh - will not be back for a second season, despite last year's six-part debut proving to be a ratings success.

The reason why there will not be more episodes is because 'Guerrilla' actor Babou has reportedly "declined the opportunity to film more".

A source told The Sun newspaper's TV Biz column: "Ceesay declined the opportunity to film more episodes, despite series one proving both a ratings and critical success.

“As the show’s titular star, it was felt the series couldn’t proceed without him.”

'Wolfe' was written by a team led by 'Shameless' creator Paul Abbott and the cast also contained Natalia Tena, Naomi Yang, Adam Long and Shaniqua Okwok.

The show followed Professor Wolfe Kinteh, who is recognised as the finest crime scene investigator in Northern England. A genius when it comes to piecing together evidence, but prone to being a liability.

Wolfe was joined by a team that includes child prodigy Maggy (Yang), middle-aged single mother Dot (Abbington), entomologist Steve (Long) and new recruit Dominique (Okwok).

Adrian Shergold and Sean Spencer directed the series with Emma Burge producing.
