Amanda Holden wants a choir to win Britain's Got Talent

The 53-year-old star has served as a judge on the ITV1 talent competition since its inception in 2007 and ahead of its return to screens on Saturday (20.04.24), she admitted she wants a huge group of singers to win so that the £250,000 cash prize can be spread amongst several people.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz and other media outlets, she said: "For me this year, I would love a choir to win. I have always said that to Simon [Cowell, head judge] because I want that money to spread across loads of people and I'd love to see loads of people win it. It's always brilliant to have one or two people win it but to have a whole choir...and I think this year, we have had some amazing choirs."

If a choir is victorious in this year's edition of the competition - which presents one entrant with the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance - it will mark the first time such an act has achieved that feat, although in recent years acts such as the B Positive Choir, the Missing People's Choir and the Welsh of the West End have all reached the live finals.

Along with Simon, former 'Wild At Heart' actress Amanda will be joined on the panel by Mis-Teeq singer Alesha Dixson and former 'Strictly Come Dancing' judge Bruno Tonioli, who teased that the standard is "so high" that the winner could be anyone.

He said: "It's actually going to be very hard because the quality overall is so high. I mean, we had singers, dancers, choirs, comedians. No, we had a few of them that were so original. And actually, very few comedians make me laugh!"
