Amanda Holden is to shadow Holly Willoughby on 'This Morning' before covering her maternity leave.
Holly, 33, returns to the popular ITV show today (01.09.14), having enjoyed a break over the summer months, but is set to go on maternity leave in a few weeks' time, with the 'Britain's Got Talent' judge being groomed to fill the void.
A show source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Amanda has agreed to come in for a few days each week even though she is not on screen.
"She will be watching from the wings to learn the ropes, get a feel of the show as Phil and Holly present the new series. She'll also be here getting to know the crew and daytime bosses.
"After recently returning from LA, Amanda cannot wait to get started, she's always been a fan of the show and is very excited about being part of it soon. And If Holly goes into labour whilst she is in the wings she will be presenting sooner rather than later."
Meanwhile, Amanda has already spoken of her joy, saying: "It's such an exciting time for Holly and I am really happy to be stepping in whilst she is on maternity leave. I've worked with Phillip [Schofield] before and it will be a joy to present such a much loved show with him."
