The reality star - who won the ITV2 dating show last summer alongside ex Greg O'Shea - has heaped praise on the new presenter as she's replaced former host Caroline Flack after she stepped down for the winter series following an assault charge.

In a video for Just Eat, she said: "I think Laura made everyone feel really comfortable.

"She was nice and kind, you need someone like that. It's new and crazy, so it's nice to have someone kind."

Amber also admitted she felt more "excited" for the new series - which launched on Sunday (12.01.20) than she was for her own stint in the villa last year.

She added: "It's mad how quickly it's come around. I've never been so excited for Love Island before, I wasn't even this excited for our series!

"Hopefully they'll have the best time... It was a bit traumatic for me."

Meanwhile, show bosses have confirmed the "door is open" for Caroline to return to the programmed in the future.

The 40-year-old presenter - who will go on trial in March after she pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault by beating, related to an alleged incident with her boyfriend Lewis Burton - could make a comeback in the future.

Commissioning editor Amanda Stavri recently said: "We are continuing to talk to Caroline. We are in constant contact and the door is open."

Last month, the court heard the prosecution allege that Caroline hit Lewis "in the head with a lamp", but following the hearing he took to Instagram to insist she did not strike him with the object.

Caroline has been replaced for the new winter series of 'Love Island' by Laura, and she recently insisted: "I'm glad it's Laura .. she loves the show as much as I do ... again.. thank you for you continuous messages of support .. it's a really rough time ... but I'm doing all can to keep my head above the water and sort this all out ... (sic)"
