The former British number one tennis player can't wait get started on the Latin and ballroom show, because she has "always" been a fan of watching the programme.

She said: "I have always loved watching 'Strictly' and can’t quite believe I’m going to be part of this magical show - swapping tennis balls for glitter balls and looking forward to finding some joyfulness in the process."

Former 'EastEnders' actor Nigel - who portrayed Dennis Rickman in the BBC One soap - is "amazed, excited, and terrified" about taking part in the BBC Latin and ballroom show.

He said: "As an armchair fan of the show I have watched in awe as people have twirled and gyrated across the screen. And now it's my turn ... gulp!"

Nigel has sought advice from his 'Casualty' co-star Charles Venn, who played Ray Dixon in 'EastEnders'.

Speaking on 'Lorraine', Nigel said: "Charles Venn took me aside and he went really serious. He said, 'You've got to do cardio at the gym. Cardio, cardio.' I thought, 'Oh my God.' "

Nigel recently graduated as a meditation teacher, and admitted he has a feeling he is "going to need" such skills amid his 'Strictly' stint.

Annabel and Nigel will be joined on the show by current 'EastEnders' actor Bobby Brazier (Freddie Slater).

As well as Nigel and Bobby, soap fans might spot some other familiar faces on 'Strictly' this year.

Former 'Coronation Street' actress Ellie Leach is also taking part in the show, as is ex-'Emmerdale' actor Adam Thomas.

Other stars in the line-up include world and Paralympic champion swimmer and cyclist Jody Cundy, BBC Asian Network's Nikita Kanda, 'The One Show' presenter Angela Scanlon, 'Sherlock' actress Amanda Abbington, and broadcaster Angela Rippon.

Zara McDermott will become the first-ever former 'Love Island' star to swap the dating show's villa for the 'Strictly' ballroom.

West End star Layton Williams, Channel 4 newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy, and comedian Eddie Kadi are also taking part in the forthcoming season.
