After losing 'The Great British Bake Off' to Channel 4, the broadcaster is attempting to replace the hit show with a new cooking series called 'Celebration'.

The BBC have already released two unsuccessful food-based shows called 'Britain's Best Home Cook' - which featured 'Bake Off' star Mary Berry - and 'Big Family Cooking Showdown', hosted by Nadiya Hussain, the winner of 'Bake Off' in 2015.

The new show will air on BBC Two and the application form for the programme says it's seeking "amateur cooks and bakers" who want to be part of an exciting food show.

Speaking to the Sun Online, a TV source said: "The BBC has been trying to fill the huge gap left by 'Bake Off' moving to Channel 4.

"They've brought out Mary Berry for 'Best Home Cook', which was a bit flat. And they had ex-winner Nadiya Hussain for the 'Big Family Cooking Showdown', which had to be overhauled for a second series that no one really wanted.

"And now they're launching yet another cookery show that stinks of the 'Bake Off'. It might have got huge numbers back in the day for them but the obsession is getting out of hand.

"'Celebration' is even starting on BBC Two, just like 'Bake Off' did all those years ago."

The second series of 'Bake Off' on Channel 4 launched earlier this week and had ratings of around 6.3 million viewers.
