BBC Three have revealed they'll be broadcasting a documentary detailing the Oscar Pistorius trial.

Titled 'Oscar Pistorius: The Truth', it will be the UK's only documentary about the extremely high-profile trial of the South African paralympian.

Exclusive access has been given for the hour-long special to the Steenkamps family - relatives of deceased Reeva Steenkamp.

Killed on Valentine's Day in 2013, Reeva was shot through the toilet door of Pistorius's home by the athlete, who has since been cleared of premeditated murder.

Earlier today however, he was found guilty of culpable homicide, and could face a prison sentence despite being given bail.

Steenkamp's parents Barry and June will be followed in the documentary, covering the lead-up to the trial, their willingness to forgive and fight for justice.

BBC Three's Channel Editor Sam Bickley commented: “BBC Three has a well-deserved, excellent reputation for award-winning, one-off current affairs programmes which manage to achieve incredible access to the big stories of the moment. Oscar Pistorius: The Truth – our second about this tragic case – doesn’t disappoint.”

Steve Anderson, Executive Producer, adds: “As one of the most high profile trials of recent years, we felt it important to bring the Steenkamps' story to BBC Three, which broadcast one of the first documentaries on the case, days after Reeva Steenkamp was killed. I believe we’ve managed to capture a poignant story thanks to the honesty and openness of Reeva’s parents.”

Oscar Pistorius: The Truth airs at 9pm on Monday, September 15 on BBC Three.
