A former beauty queen and a Hugh Hefner wannabe are among the candidates on the new series of 'The Apprentice'.

Former Miss Jamaica April Jackson, 26 - who owns a boutique in London and has also lived in France and studied in New York - and plumbing business owner Joseph Valente, 25, from Peterborough are two of 18 candidates set to battle it out for a £250,000 investment from Lord Alan Sugar in the upcoming 11th series of the show.

April said: "I'm Jamaican - we come first. We win on the track and we will win in the boardroom."

Joseph - who names Hugh Hefner as one of his role models - describes himself as successful, passionate and driven.

He shared: "I am the definition of success. I'm the godfather of business and I'm here to make Lord Sugar a lot of money."

Other candidates on this year's show will include Kosovan-born sales manager Mergim Butaja, 23, former construction operations director Elle Stevenson, 21 - who cites Taylor Swift as her business inspiration - former marine engineer Brett Butler-Smythe, 28, and Royal Navy officer-turned salon owner Charleine Wain, 31.

Completing the line up are hair extensions specialist Aisha Kasim, 30, retail director Dan Callaghan, 23, sports marketing specialist David Stevenson, 25, programme manager Gary Poulton, 34, graduate Jenny Garbis, 23, telecoms manager Natalie Dean, 25, digital marketing director Richard Woods, 31, consultancy owner Ruth Whiteley, 47, private tutor Sam Curry, 23, sales manager Scott Saunders, 27, events agency owner Selina Waterman-Smith, 31, and social media entrepreuner Vana Koutsomitis, 27.

Meanwhile, Karren Brady will be returning as one of Lord Sugar's advisors while Claude Littner will be replacing Nick Hewer as his second.

'The Apprentice' kicks off next Wednesday, October 14 at 9pm on BBC One with a one-off second episode on Thursday, October 15 at 9pm.
