The cobbles favourite - who has played Liz McDonald in the soap on and off since 1989 - can't bear to watch herself back on TV so she doesn't put 'Corrie' on of an evening, and hasn't done so for 10 years.

She said: "I don't watch 'Corrie' as I can't watch myself - never have done in anything. I haven't watched it for going on 10 years."

But Beverley does enjoy watching rival ITV soap 'Emmerdale', on which she made her TV debut as Angie Richards in 1983 when it was known as 'Emmerdale Farm'.

She is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: "I'd rather not watch it. I do love a bit of 'Emmerdale', though."

Beverley's daughter Rebecca Callard has previously admitted her mum would love it if the 'Detectorists' star brought up a family Soapland hat-trick - by appearing in 'EastEnders', because Bev is such a big fan of the goings on in Albert Square.

Rebecca - who played Ruth Walsh in 'Corrie' in 2011 - exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "My mum loves 'EastEnders', absolutely loves it.

"In fact, my mum watches 'Emmerdale' and she watches 'EastEnders' and I think she watches 'Holby' [Holby City] as well, religiously. So I think, I mean she absolutely loves it, so I think she'd love it [if I were in 'EastEnders']."

Beverley's lack of 'Corrie' viewing means she will miss the TV return of her on-screen husband Jim McDonald (Charlie Lawson), who will make his cobbles comeback on Friday (07.09.18).

Jim is set to return with a bombshell for Liz - revealing their daughter Katie, who was thought to have passed away after she was born prematurely in 1992, is actually alive.
