The ITV competition returned on Sunday evening (30.08.20) for a special episode unveiling the 40 acts who made it through to the prerecorded semi-finals, which will start airing from Saturday (05.09.20).

On 'Britain's Got Talent: The Finalists Revealed', judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams were seen whittling down 200 acts, and now the landscape is much clearer for the show's big comeback.

Singer Fayth Ifil, singing duo Honey and Sammy, and comedian and musician Jon Courtenay were chosen as the 'Golden Buzzer' picks for Simon, Amanda and hosts Ant & Dec respectively.

Alesha pressed her button for comedian Nabil Abdulrashid, and David's choice was choir Sign Along With Us.

Other acts amongst those in the last 40 are dancers Aaron and Jasmine, comedian Allen Finnegan, magician Aidan McCann and the Chineke! Junior Orchestra.

Amanda and her rescue dog Miracle have also made it through, and they'll be joined by singers Belinda Davids, Beth Porch, Bhim Niroula and Imen Siar.

Danger magic act James Stott will be in the semi-finals, along with dancing duo Billy and Charlotte, the Class Dynamix Choir, drummer Chrissy Lee and musicians Ember Trio.

ITV have confirmed the semis, which were due to take place in May before being postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, will finally get underway, with the first of five pre-recorded episodes due to air on Saturday September 5th at 8pm.

The news came after it was revealed Ashley Banjo will step in for Simon Cowell on the 'BGT' panel after the music mogul broke his back recently and had to undergo surgery.

A post on the 'BGT' Instagram read: "It's official! The amazing @ashleybanjogram will be stepping in as Guest Judge for the #BGT Semi-Finals while @simoncowell recovers from his recent back operation.

"We can't wait to see you back on Britain's Got Talent, Ashley! (sic)"
