Carol Vorderman's new quiz show has been axed.

The 'Loose Women' star was due to front a new primetime ITV show called 'Revolution', but telly bosses decided to scrap the programme before it had even aired after the pilot episode was deemed a flop.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Bosses had high hopes for 'Revolution' but despite the effort and expense it just didn't work, so it was decided not to proceed."

An ITV source confirmed: "'Revolution' was always a non-broadcast pilot and it was one we decided not to go ahead with. On the strength of the pilot we didn't feel like it was ready to go on to a series."

The show, originally scheduled to be broadcast live on Saturday evenings, would have seen brainy presenter Carol putting three teams of contestants to the test with general knowledge questions for a jackpot prize of £3million.

Viewers could also have played along at home by downloading a mobile app at the cost of £1 per episode.

However, the 52-year-old star needn't worry since she has now been offered a new contract on ITV daytime chat show, 'Loose Women'.
