The former 'Love Island' host - who stepped down from her role following her arrested this month - appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Monday (23.12.19), where she pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault by beating.

The 40-year-old star - who dressed in black for the 10am hearing - arrived just minutes after Lewis was spotted at the court.

Just hours before her appearance, the TV presenter posted an emotional message on her Instagram Stories as she admitted she doesn't know "who I even am" anymore.

She wrote: "This is the worst time of my life. I don't kno where to go to. Where to look. Who to trust. Or who I even am. (sic)"

Caroline's comment comes just days after she admitted she is "glad" Laura Whitmore was chosen to take over from her as the host of the ITV2 dating show.

She said: "I'm glad it's Laura .. she loves the show as much as I do ... again.. thank you for you continuous messages of support .. it's a really rough time ... but I'm doing all can to keep my head above the water and sort this all out ... (sic)"

After her arrest, Caroline confirmed she was stepping down so the situation didn't "detract attention from the upcoming series".

She explained: "'Love Island' has been my world for the last five years, it's the best show on telly.

"In order to not detract attention from the upcoming series I feel the best thing I can do is to stand down for series six.

"I want to wish the incredible team working on the show a fantastic series in Cape Town."

Laura will begin her duties as host when the programme airs its first-ever winter edition, which will begin on January 12th, 2020.
