The outgoing 'Corrie' star - who is to depart her role as Eva Price in the coming weeks - is up for the accolade alongside her co-star Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt), but the pair will go up against Emmerdale's Emma Atkins and 'EastEnders' actress Lacey Turner for the gong.

Catherine wrote on Twitter: "Super chuffed to have made the short list for #bestactress @TVChoice Thankyou SO much!! You can vote here! Me love you muchly (sic)"

Ryan Clayton is also delighted to have received recognition as he was given a nod for his role as Josh Tucker in the ITV soap for Best Newcomer.

He tweeted: "Thanks from the bottom,

Middle, top of me heart to everyone who voted for us/ all things @itvcorrie for @TVChoice awards so far - honour to be on shortlist amongst such talents. (sic)"

But Ryan will have to overcome 'Emmerdale' pair Ned Porteous and Andrew Scarborough, who play Joe Tate and Graham Foster respectively, as well as EastEnders' Katie Jarvis (Hayley Slater).

Catherine's former co-star Shayne Ward (Aidan Connor) is up for the Best Actor accolade, alongside his co-star Jack P. Shepherd (David Platt).

But they will have to do battle with EastEnders' Danny Dyer (Mick Carter) and 'Emmerdale' actor Ryan Hawley (Robert Sugden).

The Big Four soaps, 'Corrie', 'EastEnders', 'Emmerdale' and 'Hollyoaks', are all up for the Best Soap award at the ceremony.

This comes after 'EastEnders' were snubbed for a TV BAFTA nomination in the Soap and Continuing Drama category, in favour of 'Casualty', 'Coronation Street', 'Emmerdale' and 'Hollyoaks'.

'Casualty' claimed the prestigious prize on the big night.
