The 'Hollyoaks' actress was recently revealed to be in a relationship with co-star Owen Warner, who plays Romeo Quinn, and the channel employee was heard referencing their romance as the credits began rolling on an 'Oaks' episode.

He said: "And there was me thinking it was Romeo she was interested in."

Stephanie clearly saw the funny side of the quip as she took to her Instagram Stories to share a clip of the moment, and added the caption: "Hahahaha."

The latest episode saw Stephanie's alter-ego Sinead Shelby left devastated after her husband Laurie Shelby (Kyle Pryor) stormed off after finding out she used to be a prostitute.

Steph is said to have started dating Owen after reprising her role as Sinead on the soap earlier this year.

A source said: "Steph and Owen became friends when she returned to 'Hollyoaks' but in recent weeks it's turned into a romance.

"It's well known among the cast that they're dating but it's very early days for them both.

"Steph is being really cautious and has wanted to keep their relationship out of the public eye.

"They make a really nice couple and all of their friends and co-stars have been really supportive. Everyone just wants Steph to be happy."

A spokesman for the actress said: "They are in a relationship and they are very happy."

Steph had a tough time before her 'Oaks' return, and recently admitted she tried to kill herself during the height of her alcohol addiction.

She said: "I obviously went through a really bad time and alcohol was my coping mechanism to help with things. In the beginning it was a solution and it helped me, but then it starts to take and take, and in the end I thought I was going to die.

"It was really sad. I did try to kill myself, and then the way I was drinking, because it got quite bad, I was either going to hit my head or my body.

"I couldn't take it anymore, so it just got to the point where I gave up the fight. I wanted to be me again, because I wasn't me. I was just a lost soul. It's sad."
