Russell T Davies once urged 'Coronation Street' bosses to make more of Charlie Condou's character, after saying he had been "massively under-used".

Charlie has revealed one of the reasons Marcus Dent started to get his own storylines in the star's second stint on the cobbles, from 2011 to 2014, was down to the 'It's a Sin' creator, and he has thanked Russell for his kind words.

He wrote on Twitter: "Lots of love for Russell T Davies today, and rightly so. He’s one of the loveliest, most supportive people in the industry. When the wonderful Phil Collinson (producer of #ItsASin) took over at Corrie and decided to bring back my character, RTD told him I’d been....

"massively under-used and that this time round they should make more of the character. Which is one of the reasons Marcus started getting his own storylines. (sic)"

Charlie's praise comes just days after he told how the "nastiest" celebrity he has ever met is someone he "had to work with closely for a long time".

The 48-year-old star admitted the "nicest" star he has met is 'Lord of the Rings' actor Viggo Mortensen, when he worked alongside in 2008 movie 'Good', but his comment about the unnamed unpleasant person has had the Twittersphere guessing as to who it could be.

Charlie wrote on Twitter: "Taking my cue from @BridgLondon, who’s the nicest celeb you’ve met? And who’s the nastiest?

Nicest - Viggo Mortensen was the absolute best when I worked with him.

Nastiest - someone I had to work with closely for a long time ..... (sic)"

While former cobbles favourite Charlie didn't elaborate about who the unpleasant person could be, Vicky Entwistle - who played Janice Battersby on 'Corrie' - sparked speculation that he could've worked with the "nasty" person on the soap.

She replied: "I know!!!! X (sic)"
