The 37-year-old singer appeared under the guise of 'Mushroom' and came second in the 2022 series and is now reportedly set to return to the ITV show and reprise her fungi identity for the final.

A TV insider told the Daily Star newspaper's HotTV column: "Charlotte loved her time on 'The Masked Singer', so she is thrilled to get the chance to come back as a special guest.

"And, as she's going to be singing, it'll be a big treat for viewers too."

Other stars are also reportedly set to return to the programme including 'Kaiser Chiefs' frontman Ricky Wilson and 'All Saints' singer Natalie Appleton who will be back as Phoenix and Fawn respectively.

The source said: "Producers are so excited that they managed to convince three big names to return."

Recently, it was revealed that broadcaster Nicky Campbell was behind the identity of 'Dippy Egg' when he was voted off the show.

Reflecting on his time on the programme during an appearance on 'Loose Women', Nicky said: "It was quite a heavy duty year last year, and I just thought what a crazy, amazing thing to do to have a total laugh.

"A lot of good stuff came out of last year - solidarity, meeting old friends and making new friends. I actually formed a friendship with the daughter of one of the abusers at our school ... 'Masked Singer' came up and I thought, do you know what? Yeah.

"We had a great laugh. The girls would have their friends round who didn't know.

"Last Saturday night was a riot in our house. Two of the friends got it and were just uncontrollably laughing, but my daughter's boyfriend didn't have a clue it was me so when the reveal happened it was a beautiful moment."
