ITV bosses are reportedly in discussions with the main cast of the hit comedy drama, which had its last episode over a decade ago.

A source said: "'Cold Feet' is coming back - the deal is very nearly done. Filming will begin early next year and the new series will be ready to go by next spring."

It is hoped that the original cast - Robert Bathurst, Hermione Norris, John Thomson, Fay Ripley and James Nesbitt - will return but Helen Baxendale is unlikely to appear in a new series after her character Rachel was killed off in a lorry accident in the final series.

It is thought 'Cold Feet' could return to its Sunday evening slot when ITV drama 'Downton Abbey' ends later this year.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "The Sunday night autumn drama slot is one of the most important for ITV and finding a replacement to 'Downton' has been a top priority for the channel. But bringing back 'Cold Feet' is a slam-dunk move.

"It's been discussed quietly in the industry for five years. But not many people believed it could be pulled off because of the number of big names involved."
