Former 'Doctor Who' star Colin Baker thinks we won't see a female Doctor on the BBC as the broadcaster is too "timid".
The 70-year-old actor, who played the sixth incarnation of the Time Lord between 1984 and 1986, would like to see producers hire an actress to play the Doctor but doesn't think it's likely.
He told RadioTimes.com: "There should [be a female Doctor]. It won't happen because they are too timid, but there should be."
The legendary star - who was part of the long-running sci-fi drama's 50th anniversary celebrations last year - joked that he would even be willing to become a woman to play a female Doctor.
He quipped: "First female Doctor? I will have a sex change and do it. I am in touch with my feminine side."
Colin says he doesn't have any advice for new Doctor, Peter Capaldi, and thinks the Scottish actor should put his own stamp on the role.
He added: "Each new actor brings what they bring. Just do what you want to do and be brave."
Peter recently began filming his first series in the lead role after Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith, bowed out of the show in last year's Christmas special.
