The 53-year-old judge insisted it was important to keep the contestants together, despite causing a scandal when they were pictured kissing earlier this month, because they should face up to what they've done.

He said: "My take was, keep them in the show, make them do the Dance of Shame, if you like.

"I'm just saying it's really important if this does happen to you, you face up to it. If you're on your Christmas party and you snogged the boss, for instance, you'd still have to do the walk of shame on the Monday, wouldn't you?"

Seann - who split with girlfriend Rebecca Humphries in the wake of his kiss with Katya - and his professional partner will dance the Charleston this weekend, but they were originally supposed to perform a rumba and Craig admitted he's disappointed they won't be doing the "dance of love".

Speaking on 'The Jonathan Ross Show', he said: "I wanted to see the rumba, the dance of love, I'm sure everyone wants to see that.

"That's one of my favourite dances. You still have to act through it."

The choreographer also dismissed claims of the show's "curse", insisting it only affects those in unhappy relationships.

He said: "One person is married, the other one had a girlfriend but my point in this entire thing is, if you come on Strictly, sometimes you are in a relationship.

"Of course that is not working anyway and people, I have noticed, that if they are in love or are married, end up being absolutely faithful to one another because of that love.

"And it doesn't mean that you're going to fall in love with your dancer does it, at any given point in time?

"That's like me falling in love with Darcey [Bussell].

"If you come on 'Strictly', sometimes you are in a relationship. Of course that's not working anyway and people, I have noticed, that if they are in love or are married, end up being absolutely faithful to one another because of that love."

'The Jonathan Ross Show' airs on ITV on Saturday (13.10.18).
