The 'Emmerdale' actor - who plays Aaron Dingle on the ITV soap - has opened up on his scenes with co-star Chris Chittell, which see a mix-up end with Eric Pollard smacking him over the head, but things weren't so simple with filming restrictions in place.

He told Inside Soap magazine: "This was one of my first stunts with COVID restrictions. It meant that Chris couldn't actually hit me with the bat, I just had to react.

"It was a challenge, but I loved it - and it made for a great day!"

The incident came about after Aaron sneaked into Pollard's house to clear Faith Dingle's (Sally Dexter) name and return Brenda Walker's (Lesley Dunlop) broach, which was actually stolen by Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb).

He gets caught in the act, and things take a turn for the worse before his identity is revealed

Danny added: "It's only when Pollard says he's armed that Aaron panics and decides to make a break for it.

"However, Pollard cracks Aaron over the head with a bat, sending him to the floor. Then, when he turns Aaron over, Pollard sees who it really is."

Aaron and Mackenzie come up with a story to explain the former's presence at the house, although Pollard - who gets charged with assault - decides he must have been acting on Faith's behalf anyway.

Danny has loved getting involved in the plot, and the chance to work with a different co-star.

He explained: "Opportunities to film with a cast member so far removed from your character group are sadly few and far between.

"I think the only other time it's happened was when I had the chance to work with Shirley [Stelfox, AKA Edna]. I do cherish these times.

"You always receive little life lessons from Chris. It's a joy to work with him, and it's such a different dynamic, too."
