The 57-year-old comedian’s 2016 'My Family: Not the Sitcom' show covered the death of his mother Sarah and the complexities of his relationship with father Colin, who suffers from Pick’s disease, an aggressive form of Alzheimer’s.

According to The Times newspaper, David is to write a book version of the show.

He is also said to be working on a new BBC documentary about social networking as well as penning a sequel to his best-selling book on anti-Semitism, ‘Jews Don’t Count’.

Speaking to the publication about the inspiration behind the book, he said: "The difference between me and most other – sorry to use this word – celebrity atheists, is that I am from an ethnic minority.

"I never dismiss religion. I never think it’s nothing.

"I really know what it means in terms of culture and tradition and all the rest of it … I’ve got a lot of time for religion, but it makes no difference to my militant belief that there is no actual God."

And it promises to be a busy few months for the New York-born comic, as he’s also partnered up with Your Red Car, the new online auto marketplace from Santander, which rewards customers when buying a vehicle.

David has curated the book, ‘The Adventures of Pre-Loved Cars’, which features seven short real-life car memoirs.

The idea came about after research suggested that more than a third of Britons see their car as a family member or friend.

Speaking about his latest venture, he said: “Cars aren’t just transport.

“Every car you own can bring back a memory of your life as it was then.

“'The Adventures of Pre-Loved Cars' stories are funny and moving.

“They’re about love, discovery, unforgettable road trips and a casual gift from a king.

“Curating them for Your Red Car has proved how evocative of things past cars can be.

“Never mind the madeleines, Marcel - try getting into an old Renault 5…”

'The Adventures of Pre-Loved Cars' series, curated by David Baddiel for Your Red Car, is available to read on yourredcar.co.uk.
