The 49-year-old actor and 51-year-old writer and TV presenter Victoria - who have eight-year-old daughter Barbara together - welcomed a baby girl, June Violet, into the world last week.
An announcement in The Times newspaper read: "MITCHELL on 26th October 2023 to Victoria and David, a daughter, June Violet sister to Barbara."
Victoria, who presenters TV quiz show 'Only Connect', also highlighted the news to her fans on Twitter this week.
On Tuesday (31.10.23), she posted a picture of herself wearing a cloak for Halloween, and on Wednesday (01.11.23) she wrote on X: "Many people are assuming my tweet yesterday was a Halloween costume. Not at all; last week I had a baby and nothing currently fits me except cloaks. Luckily, Only Connect is a pre-record. Happy All Saints Day! (sic)"
Several stars congratulated the couple, including former ‘Great British Bake Off’ presenter Sue Perkins.
She wrote: "Congratulations! xxx (sic)"
'Countdown' co-host Rachel Riley wrote: "Mazel tov, hope you’re both doing well!"
In 2018, David admitted being a parent had contributed to him toning down his humour.
He told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "Having a small child gives you an insight into human vulnerability.
"The world seems harsh and frightening, I don't feel strong and young anymore and so I don't have a taste for darker humour.
"I came into comedy when you could swear and didn't have to worry about being audited.
"But in the past 10 years people have been quick to take offense- they are less accepting if you cross a certain line.
"So for practical reasons I stay away from edgier jokes more than I have done in the past."
