The 47-year-old TV presenter and 44-year-old actress will travel across the UK to see several celebrities coo over their beloved furry friends in the upcoming ITV show.

A celebrity guest will join the duo to discuss their relationship with their pooch before entering the dog in a Best in Show competition in hopes of earning a spot on the leader board.

Dermot said: “I'm really excited about hosting 'The Pet Show' with the inimitable Joanna.

"I'm a proud cat Dad/ servant/ skivvy, but I'm not tribal. I love all our furry and feathery friends.

"So, if you're one of those people who spend far too much time online watching rescued dogs finding happy new families, or kittens saving old ladies from burning buildings, then this is the show for you."

Joanna added: "I'm a lover of all animals and cannot wait to meet many of them whilst filming this series.

"I also get to work with the brilliant Dermot O'Leary, I'm just so excited to be a part of this show."

The pair will also be joined by wildlife filmmaker Patrick Aryee as they show off the nation’s heroic pets, give animal expert advice, and review the latest pet gadgets.

As well as a pet clinic, which will see animal lovers bring in their pets for help and advice from a range of experts, 'The Pet Show' will also feature a weekly Pet of the Year competition to shine a light on the UK’s most talented pet.

Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment Commissioning at ITV said: "With 54 million pet owners across the UK, it’s clearly no secret that we’re a nation of animal lovers.

"'The Pet Show' will celebrate everything that’s great and good about Britain’s pets, through inspirational stories, impressive talents, and tales of heroism."
