Former EastEnders star Danny Dyer admits he didn't 'love' all of his co-stars

The 45-year-old star has hinted at a potential feud on the BBC One soap, after he admitted there are "a few" of the show's stars that he won't miss much.

When asked on Saturday's (25.02.23) 'The Jonathan Ross Show' who he will miss the least, he says: "There's a few of them actually, I ain't going to lie. I won't say [who], you know. Most of them I love dearly. Not all."

Jonathan asks: "So they know who they are, though?"

Danny says: "I would have thought so."

The star admitted it was "very emotional" departing the soap after nine years of playing character Mick Carter, but admitted he stank while shooting his final scenes, in which his landlord alter-ego got lost at sea.

He adds: "I tell you what it is, I'm lazy. It's f****** hard. Thirty pages you've got to learn a day. It's like a film a week. My final scenes were in the sea, in Ramsgate at 2am. We did the exteriors in the sea and the interiors you go to a water tank. But EastEnders couldn't get Pinewood, so we had to go to Basildon.

"It's all warm and lovely but to make it look like the sea they put broccoli juice in it. You smell of a***. It's f***ing broccoli juice. Warm broccoli juice. It was very emotional, but I stunk.

"If it goes t*** up I can go back. I can turn up in three years' time, walk in the Queen Vic smothered in seaweed...

"They wanted to keep it open. I'm very privileged and grateful for that job. It really did change my career and my life."

Speaking about his exit, he says: "You don't have much say in it, I just wanted it to be exciting and quite cinematic. It went down really well, a lot of people were quite touched by it. People were sending me all this stuff, TikToks of kids crying, it really upset them."

Away from TV, Danny is to be a granddad again as his daughter Dani Dyer - who has two-year-old son Santiago - and her pro footballer partner Jarrod Bowen are expecting twins.

Jarrod stars for Danny's favourite team, Premier League side West Ham United, but the 'Football Factory' actor isn't sure if he should celebrate when Bowen scores and the Hammers fans sing about him "s*******" the former 'Love Island' star.

Danny says: "West Ham until I die. You can't tell them who to fall in love with... all of a sudden she's brought home a West Ham player. I couldn't have hand picked a better human being, he's beautiful. He comes round and I get all starstruck."

Speaking about going to games when he's playing, Danny says: "There is a chant, which I think is quite sweet. When he scores - and he does score a lot - [they chant] 'Bowen's on fire and he's s******* Dani Dyer!' I've been over there when they're singing it, jumping around. Is that wrong?"

The Jonathan Ross Show, Saturday at 9.40pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
