The former cricketer, 46, stepped out of the spotlight after suffering broken ribs and facial injuries in a car crash while filming 'Top Gear' in 2022 with BBC bosses canning production on the rest of the series in the aftermath of the accident - but now he's back at work filming his cricket reality show 'Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams' and a new report suggests he's been making good progress.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "He’s healing well and returning to two of his greatest passions - sport and television ... Freddie looks to have made huge progress ...

"He’s clearly comfortable enough to get in front of a camera again - something which was not the case this time last year. They’re nervous first steps, as he’s recovering both mentally and physically, but the TV show he’s making is a real passion project for him."

In the first season of 'Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams' , the sportsman took a group of young people from his home town of Preston and attempted to turn them into a competitive cricket team.

Plans for season two were announced prior to his 'Top Gear' crash and the new episodes will show him taking the lads to India.

Speaking at the time of the show's announcement, Freddie declared: "Working with the boys was one of the most incredible experiences of my life but the work is not finished yet!"

Freddie was airlifted to hospital after the car accident during filming at the 'Top Gear' test track at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey in December 2022 and later took time off to recover from his injuries.

The BBC previously said it would be "inappropriate" to resume filming 'Top Gear' after the crash and the show was later shelved "for the foreseeable future".

Freddie went on to receive a £9 million settlement from the BBC.
