Larry Lamb wants to win the lottery

The 76-year-old actor has had a long career on stage and screen but when asked about what he has coming up, he admitted that not much is in the pipeline and he would rather that his numbers come up so he could retire.

He told Woman's Weekly magazine: "There are a couple of things that may be going to happen, but nothing is set. I’m an old man. I don’t have the energy. "Things come and I’m fine. My next dream role would be to win the lottery."

The former 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!' star has become a regular fixture on British television over the years thanks to roles in 'EastEnders' and 'Gavin and Stacey' but has also had an illustrious career in the theatre and insisted that it is "much harder" to tread the boards than be on screen.

He said: "People just know me from the TV, but I’ve had 40 years working in the theatre. Roles that most people have no idea that I’ve done. I’ve been very lucky, I’ve done a lot of wonderful plays. Theatre is much, much harder.

"There’s no comparison. It’s not about one take – it’s about being out on a tightrope with nothing but sharks underneath. It’s different entirely."

Meanwhile, the acting veteran will celebrate his 77th birthday in October but is still keen on keeping himself in shape.

He said: "I exercise every day, and I try to keep my back strong, and my core muscles tight. But although I love to ride my bike if I’m out in the country, I’m weary when it comes to cycling around London!"
