The 39-year-old reality TV star is said to have taken a liking to the endangered species while shooting new episodes of her new 'Diva' series at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

The source said: "Gemma loved the animals and couldn't help herself.

"She sees animal conservation as the next big thing she wants to get into, and adopting her own polar bear was too tempting to resist."

The former 'Dancing on Ice' star is said to be keen to be kept in touch about the goings on at the park after donating some money to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park Foundation to adopt a bear.

The source added to The Sun newspaper: "She wants to stay involved and keep up to date with what is happening at the park.

"They're amazing creatures and she wants to support in any way she can."

There are four bears living at the park, Victor, Pixel, Nissan and Nobby, and they are housed at the site's Project Polar reserve.

The 10-acre space features a number of lakes for the animals to play in, including one eight metres deep.

The polar bears won't be the first animals to feature on one of Gemma's 'Diva' series, which began as 'Diva Forever' but changed to 'Diva in Lockdown' when she updated fans of what she was up to earlier this year when the coronavirus pandemic hit the UK.

Following an episode which aired in May, Gemma had to reassure viewers her dog Frank hadn't been injured while recording the programme, after her pet pooch ran into a bag of Easter eggs she was swinging around in celebration after finding them during a hunt with her family.

She wrote on Twitter: "No dogs were harmed in the making of this programme"
