ITV has no plans to launch a new series of the comedy panel show - which began in March 2017 - at this time after the final instalment ended in June last year.

The 55-year-old comedian admitted that he had done what he set out to achieve during the three series.

He said: "After three fantastic series I feel that there's enough funny stuff in the Fun Capsule to avoid an alien invasion, without having to make anymore shows for the time being.

"Mission accomplished!"

Whilst a spokesperson for ITV added to The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "We'd like to thank Harry Hill for three brilliant series of 'Alien Fun Capsule'.

"There are currently no plans for a further series."

'Alien Fun Capsule' was announced after Harry left the broadcaster in 2012, following a disagreement over his long-running programme 'TV Burp'.

The show saw two teams attempt to save the planet from alien invasion.

He said of the programme when it launched: "It's great to be back on ITV with an all new format that finally tackles the problem of an imminent and prolonged war with space aliens, by proving to them that us humans are really a lot of fun to hang out with!"

Harry turned his back on ITV when he told bosses he wanted to quit his comedy show 'TV Burp' after 11 years of fronting it but the broadcaster reportedly wasn't so keen on his decision and they fell out of their differences.

He then attempted to revive 'Stars In Their Eyes' on the channel in 2015, but it collapsed when it failed to pull in viewers.
