Hayley Tamaddon

Hayley Tamaddon was "petrified" when she joined 'Coronation Street', but was shocked by how quickly she was cast in the role.

The 36-year-old actress - who previously played Delilah Dingle in 'Emmerdale' - joined the soap as the love interest of Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), Andrea, and was stunned by how quickly she was cast in the role.

She said: "I was petrified - it all happened very quickly. When I joined 'Emmerdale' I had five auditions but for this I had one audition and then a screen test with Simon Gregson and Craig Charles, so it all happened very quickly."

Andrea and Steve strike up a friendship after meeting each other at adult college, and Hayley admits her character is on the hunt for "Mr Right" and is convinced she has found him in the pub owner.

Speaking to OK! magazine, she explained: "Andrea is sassy, warm and loving - at the moment. She's not overly confident because she's had her heart broken numerous times in the past and she's struggled. But now her daughter, who's 20, is pushing her and I think she's out to get Mr Right. She thinks Steve is [Mr. Right] - and she won't let anyone stand in her way."

However, things are set to get nasty when Steve's wife Michelle (Kym Marsh) becomes suspicious of their relationship.
