Helen Flanagan is backing Michael Le Vell to star on 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!'.

The former 'Coronation Street' actress thinks the ITV reality show - which she starred on last year - would be a great way for her former co-star, who has reportedly been offered a huge deal to appear on the programme, to "rebuild" his career after being cleared of 12 charges relating to sexual abuse of a minor.

She said: "I would love that if Michael went on 'I'm A Celebrity'. It would be hilarious, he would be really grumpy in the mornings.

"I think it would be good for him because people could see what a lovely guy he is."

The 22-year-old actress thinks it is terrible what her former on-screen father - who plays Kevin Webster in 'Corrie' - had to go through after he was accused of the charges, all of which he was found not guilty of at Manchester Crown Court earlier this week, and praised him for being "incredibly strong" throughout the traumatic time.

She explained: "It's awful that he even had to go through it in the first place. I don't think anyone can imagine what he had to go through.

"It was awful, absolutely heartbreaking for everyone. He's the loveliest man and I think he's been incredibly strong throughout it. It's awful that he had to go through that.

"But I'm so glad that he can now rebuild everything, his career and that kind of thing."

During the trial, Michael, 48, admitted he was an alcoholic but Helen doesn't expect his drinking to be an issue when 'Corrie' bosses are negotiating his return.

Speaking on ITV's 'Daybreak', she said: "I don't think if he's been drinking it is such a massive problem really, especially with everything that he's gone through.

"Because I've been with him from a young age I wouldn't really notice that kind of thing. But I'm sure 'Coronation Street', especially after what he's been through, will welcome him with open arms."
