Jamie Oliver’s wife Jools has been stricken with long Covid for two years, leaving doctors mystified

The TV chef, 47, revealed Jools, also 47, is still fighting a “deeply scary” battle with lingering effects of the virus and medics have been unable to solve her issues.

Jamie added in a new interview with Mail Plus published on Friday evening (19.08.22) his wife of 22 years had been “really affected” by her long Covid symptoms, but remains a “superstar”.

He also said they had been “all over” the best private doctors in London “like a rash” without any resolution.

Talking about how he has dedicated his latest cookbook to the mum of his five children, Jamie said: “She’s had bad Covid and long Covid, so she’s been really affected by it, sadly.

“She’s OK, but still not what she wants to be. It’s been two years. She finds it deeply scary.

“We’re all over Harley Street like a rash, but no one really knows anything. The data on long Covid is still piling in. She’s been an absolute superstar.”

Jamie says in the dedication of his latest recipe book ‘One: Simple One-Pan Wonders’: “If ever I wrote a book that was perfect for you, it’s this one.”

He added the message is “an opportunity to say, ‘Thank you. Love you’.”

Nearly two million Britons are thought to be suffering long Covid, according to the latest data available from the Office for National Statistics.

The huge range of symptoms of the condition can include brain “fog”, fatigue, breathlessness, heart palpitations and nausea.

It comes as Jamie and Jools’ 20-year-old daughter, Poppy, left their £6 million home for university over lockdown.

The couple share four other children, Daisy, 19, Petal 13, Buddy 11 and six-year-old River.

In 2020, Jools revealed she has suffered five miscarriages.

Two happened before she gave birth to River in 2016, and three afterwards, including one during lockdown.

Jools shared an image of a lit candle with her social media followers alongside a caption detailing a tribute to her “stars in the sky”.

The couple have shared other stories of the ups and downs of family life during lockdown, with Jamie once describing home schooling as a “blend of misery... and misery”.
