The 40-year-old actress' alter ego, Mercedes McQueen, was recently set to wed for the sixth time to Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood) before it emerged she had been having an affair with his best friend Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) and the brunette beauty - who has been romancing a mystery man since December - admitted her frequent forays into bridal wear have been enough for her to not be interested in tying the knot in real life.

She told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “I think it’s my sixth wedding, but obviously not all of them have resulted in a marriage as they’ve not worked out for one or another reason.

“It’s been enough to put me off!

“It’s one of those things that you have to meet someone and want to get married — who knows what’s going to happen?

“And I think you can meet people and be so in love but marriage might not suit them.”

Jennifer has been with 'Hollyoaks' for almost 18 years and she still loves working on the show as much as ever.

She said: “I think I must have projected putting my roots down here.

“When I first started, I only signed a six-month contract, but I thought, ‘Right, let’s jump right in and buy my first flat here’.

“I didn’t know how long the character would stay for but I’m still here 18 years later. I love living by ‘expect nothing and accept everything’.

“So each year when my contract came round I just thought, ‘Well I’m enjoying myself’, so there was never a reason to leave. And honestly, I couldn’t be happier.”

And the actress had a great time shooting the soap's recent stunt, a multiple car crash sparked by Felix's anger over Mercedes and Warren's affair.

She said: “The stunt was amazing to film. I’m very lucky. It’s always a beautiful experience and there’s always this buzz on set when we’re filming on location.

"Whenever I work with Jamie and Richard we have the best days together. It’s not like working, they’re my best friends. It feels brilliant, and sometimes on set it’s still like my first day.”
