The 35-year-old comedian admits he's not a natural actor but thinks he could lead a show which maximises his personality in the same style as Lee Mack's 'Not Going Out' or 'Miranda'.

When asked if he would be up for starring in a sitcom, he said: “Maybe, I mean I’m not a good actor so it would need someone to write a role exactly for how I would react at any moment.”

Joe will be back on TV screens next year with a new series of his Channel 4 comedy chat show 'Late Night Lycett'.

Confirming the release date, he said: “I’ve got a new series of Late Night Lycett. We’re starting that in April.”

For his next documentary 'Joe Lycett vs Poo' – which will air in 2024 - the stand-up comic is taking on water companies amid the UK’s sewage crisis to find out “how our waterways have become so polluted and why water companies have been allowed to taint one of our most precious resources”.

Joe gives a lot of credit to the team of journalists who work behind the scenes to identify issues that they think he can make a difference on through his comedy and campaigning.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, he said: “I’m in the process of making a programme for Channel 4 about the sewage network, which sounds really exciting, and that will be on in the New Year. We use brilliant journalists on the shows that I do, because I’m an idiot and can’t be trusted on any stats or figures. So we have proper journalistic teams that work on the shows and they come to me with the stories that they think are important and that we can do something about. At that point we then start to talk about what stunts we could do, how we can make an impact and how we can make it funny, too. Because there’s lots of stuff in the world that’s pretty full on and I’m probably not the person to deal with it. So there are other avenues for that and we try and find things that we can have an impact on and educate people in a fun way, essentially.”
