The former 'Love Island' host was found dead at her home aged 40 last month, and her close friend admitted he was considering dropping out of the ITV figure skating competition after hearing the devastating news.

He told Metro.co.uk: "Honestly, it has been a roller coaster this journey, especially when it's something like that and you've got to go out and dance and smile.

"I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing doing it or if I should have stepped down and not done it."

Joe - who presented 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' spin-off show 'Extra Camp' with Caroline in the past - revealed he almost injured his pro skating partner Alex Murphy during rehearsals because he was so distracted.

He explained: "We had a bad fall on the Sunday after we found out about Caroline.

"The Sunday after was a messed up day, my mind wasn't on it and I dropped Al really bad on her face and almost broke her back."

The 38-year-old star - who will be competing in the final this weekend after recovering from an ear infection - previously paid tribute to Caroline on social media.

He wrote: "I want to send a message to everyone and let everyone know that Caroline Flack was the most amazing person you could ever come across. She was funny, super talented, and she had the most infectious laugh.

"I wish that she could have asked for help because there's so many people that love her and I am going to miss her so much. We can't let this happen, we can't let this happen to anyone else."
