The 51-year-old comedian will join an all-star cast as he will go up against interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, TV presenter Cherry Healey, reality star Dani Dyer, baker Liam Charles and others in the frosty competition.

The show will see contestants jetting off to the Alpine resorts where they will compete to make wintery creations out of snow and ice, the last round will finish in a “flake off” where celebrities will be battling to build the best snowman.

Sue Perkins is set to host the one-off festive special that will air at 8pm on Christmas Eve on Channel 4.

Channel 4 previously said of the programme: “With thousands of tonnes of snow and giant blocks of crystal-clear ice at their disposal, the celebrities will go head to head across three tough rounds that will test both their brain and brawn.

“Supported by a crew of seasoned sculptors, engineers, and snow builders, these stars will have to design and create some of the most extraordinary snow creations ever seen on TV.

"Judged by experts, all will risk chilblains as they attempt to carve and construct incredible structures made from snow and ice,

"The competition will culminate in the ultimate snowy challenge where the famous faces will use all they have learned in each round to attempt to construct the greatest snowman."

The show is set to be Sue's first project for Channel 4 since 2003 as the host of 'RI:SE', while she appeared on 'Celebrity Big Brother' the previous year after a stint alongside Mel Giedroyc hosting 'Light Lunch' and 'Late Lunch' in the 1990s.

Neither Mel nor Sue made the jump to Channel 4 when 'The Great British Bake Off' moved from the BBC in 2016.
